Climate Resilience Program landscape analysis - Mozambique

IDH & Kuza have signed up an agreement whereby Kuza would be extending support to the IDH Mozambique Climate Resilience program by deploying tailored digital training material in Portuguese and training “agripreneurs” to provide crop advisory services to farmers using digital kits across four cotton concessionaires, OLAM, Plexus, Sanam, SanJFS.

IDH and Kuza would be jointly involved in Identifying an “agripreneur” (change agent) in each cotton concession of the Program who would provide crop advisory services to farmers using Kuza’s Micro-distribution digital tool kit.   Kuza would also build the capacities of the Concessionaires to deploy the “agripreneurs” with the digital kits for servicing farmers.

As part of the design of the Mozambique Climate Resilience Digital program, Kuza has undertaken a landscape analysis in Mozambique.  As part of this, field visits were made to various project locations in Lalaua wherein meetings were held with the key stakeholders: representatives of the Concessionaires, village agriculture extension agents, and farmers.

A geographic study was made in the project locations to assess the village infrastructure and the value chains they operate in. This helped in better understanding of the broader context in which the solution would be designed, deployed and operated in to maximize the impact. The Landscape analysis also helped in identifying the topics, approaches, and beneficiaries of the training.  This exercise was undertaken as part of a rigorous strategic planning process in setting up a collective impact collaboration.
