Driving Innovation in Early Childhood Development by UN SDG Philanthropy Platform

Kuza hosted a Webinar on “Driving Innovation in Early Childhood Development” on the SDG Philanthropy Platform on 20 June 2018.

Technology has infiltrated every aspect of our lives, changing how we learn, how we play and how we work. Technology has also played a vital role in education, including Early Childhood Development (ECD). Nowadays, technological innovations in the education sector have happened all over the world, including the least developed countries, like Kenya.

Kuza Biashara, as an Innovation Challenge winner of the SDG Philanthropy Platform in Kenya, has been working on accelerating the impact of ECD efforts by developing Micro-Learning training content to be disseminated to young mothers and caregivers especially in informal settlements. In this Webinar, Kuza Biashara shared their experience as an innovator in ECD, explaining how the project was designed & implemented, thus contributing towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 3 (Good Health & Wellbeing), SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Kuza, during the implementation of the project has engaged young mothers, community health workers, caregivers, NGOs and community-based organizations through the digital micro-learning video-based training modules developed in association with SECD (Science of early child development) resource kit from Red River College, the University of Toronto and Aga Khan Development Network, ECD resource guide from Catholic relief services, Zero to three by Gerber foundation and others.
