Mozambique Climate Resilience Program launch

IDH & Kuza have launched the Kuza  Digital Platform & Kuza Digital Kit for the  Climate Resilience Program in Mozambique. This initiative is designed to increase the farmers’ resilience against extreme conditions and poverty by employing a coordinated approach to provide farmers with diversified income, improved food intake, and training on sustainable agriculture production. This digital program is rolled out in Lalaua, Cuamba, Namialo, and Balama in partnership with IDH, OLAM, Sanam, San JFS,  Plexus and additional technical support from Action for Food Production (AFPRO).

The Kuza One digital platform & the Toolkit play a key role in improving the delivery & scale of the farmer capacity building under the program. Using the portable digital toolkit, the Agriculture Extension agents of the private sector partners engage the smallholder farmers to provide them training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on key-value chains of Cotton, Maize, Tomatoes & Cabbage.  In addition to this, the smallholder farmers are also trained on adopting supplementary livelihood opportunities for increased income and food security through diversification of crop production and poultry farming apart from many other such training modules.

The objective of the Mozambique Climate Resilience Program is  to increase farmer resilience against volatile weather conditions and poverty by employing a coordinated and multi-pillar approach leveraging access to water and training on good agricultural practices to increase farmer productivity and provide access to alternative livelihood activities, diversified income, and improved food intake.

The digital intervention is targeted to bring in scalability & sustainability to this program, as the innovative bundled solution assists in reaching remote, rural farmers to offer them personalized micro-learning & micro- mentorship via last-mile rural agents.
