Silvia turned pressure into possibility

A year ago Silvia Odhiambo had finished secondary school in Nambale Sub County, Busia, and stability still felt out of reach. She was a young single mother in a low-income farming household carrying real financial pressure without a clear path forward.
Through EKYAN she gained practical exposure to poultry production, regenerative agriculture, business planning and digital record-keeping. What stands out is how quickly that learning became action.
Today Silvia, working with fellow youth agripreneur Frankline Barasa, runs a poultry unit with two flocks of 200 chicks each. On family land they cultivate about an acre of kales and African leafy vegetables at staggered stages, produce Bokashi fertiliser to build soil health, and have planted over half an acre of sunflower with a plan to cut future feed costs through their own feed formulation. The farm now hosts visiting farmers who come to learn from what she has built.
